Turning Chemistry into Healing

When traditional medicine couldn’t heal a patient’s chronic wounds, a simple question sparked an innovation: could surfactants be used to break down the biofilms that make infections so hard to treat?

That question launched a journey that led to the creation of Dermalage, a wound-care solution that it currently seeking FDA approval.

Project Plan

From Baby Shampoo to Breakthrough

The discovery began when an ENT specialist experimented with diluted baby shampoo on sinus infections. The results were positive, but baby shampoo contained unnecessary additives, so it was reformulated with only the active surfactants. The streamlined formula worked even better and was eventually licensed to a commercial partner.

Word spread. A local physician asked: could the same chemistry work on diabetic ulcers and bedsores, which are often resistant to treatment? A solution now called Dermalage that successfully healed a veteran’s chronic foot wounds, avoiding an amputation. Similar successes followed, with nearly 100% positive outcomes in early use.

How to Bring it to Market

What was next

Promising results weren’t enough. The FDA required clinical evidence, stability testing, and compliant manufacturing before Dermalage could reach the broader market.

The process was complex and lengthy however it was essential.

How Parimer Helped

Dermalage partnered with Parimer to:

  • Manufacture compliant samples

  • Conduct stability and accelerated testing to prove shelf life

  • Provide supporting data for the FDA application

  • Respond to follow-up FDA questions quickly and effectively

Parimer’s local presence and technical expertise allowed for close collaboration over several years of testing and application refinement.

“Parimer has been really good partners - helping us gather the information, testing, and sample making to support our FDA application.

When the FDA came back with more questions, Parimer was right there to help us address them. I’m a big Parimer fan.”
